Chocolate Surprise Cookies

Chocolate Surprise Cookies
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
1/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
25 Hershey Kisses
1 1/2 tablespoons 10x sugar
3/4 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder

Combine butter and brown sugar.  Beat until light and fluffy.  Add the vanilla.  Combine flour and cinnamon and add to butter mixture. Mix well.

Shape dough into 25 1 inch balls. (I used a small cookie scoop).  Flatten each ball into a 2-inch round.  Place 1 Kiss in the center of each round.  Enclose the Kiss with the cookie dough, making sure the candy in completely sealed.  Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

Combing 10x sugar and cocoa in a small bowl.  Sprinkle over the hot cookies (I dipped the tops).  Cool.

A double batch makes about 55 cookies.

I got this recipe on a card in the mail from Great American Baking.  They are a little time consuming, but very good for a treat.  I substituted 2 chocolate wafers for the Kiss.  I also was out of cocoa, so I just dipped them in plain 10x sugar and they were still very delicious!
